1. The service
Homigo connects travellers and newcomers with independently operating, vetted local hosts. Homigo mediates bookings, holds payments in escrow and provides safety tooling.
2. Payments and escrow
Guests pay by mobile money, card or their trip wallet, and those funds are held in escrow and released to the host when the guest confirms the service was delivered, or automatically after the release window if no issue is raised. A guest may instead choose to pay the host’s service fee in cash when they meet. Cash bookings are not held in escrow and Homigo cannot refund them; the host then owes Homigo the platform commission and must pay it within the time shown on their dashboard, or they cannot accept new cash bookings or withdraw. Extra expenses require the guest’s approval in the app before they are paid.
3. Host commission and deposit
Hosts keep a refundable deposit in their Homigo wallet. A platform commission is deducted when a booking locks in. Hosts cannot change platform fees.
4. Off-platform deals
Arranging payments, renewals or extensions outside Homigo, including cash the guest did not choose in the app, is not allowed. It removes your protection and leads to automatic suspension of the host profile.
5. Reviews
Guests leave honest ratings after completed bookings. Hosts cannot edit, delete or dispute reviews directly; grievances go to Homigo for mediation.
6. Chat after a booking
Chat locks when a booking ends. Guests can purchase an extension in the app to continue working with their host.
7. Safety
Use the emergency button for urgent help during a booking. In immediate danger, contact Uganda Police on 999 or 112.
