About Homigo

A home, found in a friend.

Homigo is Uganda’s cultural soft-landing platform. We pair anyone who is new here with a verified local host who helps them arrive, understand, navigate and belong.

What does Homigo mean?

HOME + AMIGO

HOMIGO = a home, found in a friend.

Home

Safety & belonging

Comfort, familiarity and a place where you feel you fit in.

Amigo

A local friend

Friendship, guidance and someone who has your back.

Why was Homigo founded?

“What happens when you arrive somewhere you don’t yet know how to navigate?”

Arranging life in a new place still runs on WhatsApp groups, Facebook listings and a friend of a friend. It works until it doesn’t: a deposit sent to a number that stops answering, a fare three times what locals pay.

Homigo was born in Uganda so that no one has to figure out a new place alone.

A word from our team lead

You don’t have to figure it out alone.

Every one of us has been new somewhere. A first day in a city where the taxi stage makes no sense, where the price changes when they hear your accent, where you don’t yet know who to trust. Homigo exists because that feeling shouldn’t decide how your story in Uganda begins.

We started with a simple question: what happens when you arrive somewhere you don’t yet know how to navigate? Our answer is a person, not just an app. A verified local host who knows the streets, the language and the fair price, and who looks out for you the way a friend would.

Behind every host is a team that checks identities, calls references, holds your payment safely and answers when you need us. We would rather grow slowly than compromise on that trust.

Whether you are here for a week of exploring or a lifetime of living: welcome. You don’t have to figure it out alone.

What is Homigo?

A soft landing in a new place.

  • Not just a bed.
  • Not just a ride.
  • Not just a tour.

A real person who knows the place, the people and the language.

Our mission

To usher every traveller, tourist, professional and student smoothly into Uganda. By pairing visitors with hand-picked local hosts, we turn the anxiety of the unfamiliar into safety, rich discovery and lifelong human connection.

Our vision

To be the premier soft-landing and cultural integration platform, transforming how the world arrives in, experiences and connects with Uganda, whether for a week of exploration or a lifetime of living.

How we work

What we hold ourselves to.

Five commitments we would rather lose business than break.

01

Authentic & curated exploration

We go beyond cookie-cutter tourism. Our hosts share the true, unfiltered heartbeat of Uganda: the hidden gems, local traditions and natural beauty seen through the eyes of those who live it every day.

02

Radical honesty & professional integrity

Zero tolerance for exploitation or breach of trust. Hosts and guests meet within professional boundaries that protect everyone’s money, safety and peace of mind.

03

Deep empathy & compassionate ushering

Arriving somewhere new comes with real vulnerability. We meet every hesitation with patience, reassuring guidance and a steady hand.

04

Lasting human connection

We measure success in relationships formed, not just smooth arrivals: friendships that endure long after a trip or relocation is complete.

05

Generational wealth & community empowerment

Local knowledge is an asset. Connecting vetted hosts directly with visitors turns hospitality into dignified micro-entrepreneurship.

Indigenous Knowledge

Uganda’s greatest wealth is its people.

Uganda’s greatest wealth has never been only in its landscapes. It is in its people, known worldwide for warmth, generosity and community.

For generations, communities have relied on Indigenous Knowledge: living oral histories, local food, navigational know-how and social cohesion passed from elder to youth. That wisdom has stayed informal and unpaid.

Homigo turns it into a structured, dignified livelihood, so young Ugandans and knowledge holders can share their heritage with the world and earn a direct, sustainable return.

“Technology doesn’t replace human trust. It reinforces it.”
